Walt Disney's Classic Cartoon Favorites Starring Mickey (DVD)

The most famous cartoon character in the world, Mickey Mouse, is the star of the seven Disney shorts collected in WALT DISNEY'S CLASSIC CARTOON FAVORITES STARRING MICKEY. All of the cartoons featured are from the prewar period, 1935 to 1941, when the Disney studio was maturing into the greatest animation house in the country due to its pristine, detailed, walt disney classics and colorful animation as well as its popular stable of characters. Two of the ensemble cartoons starring Disney's Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, walt disney classics and Goofy) are collected here: Hawaiian Holiday walt disney classics and On Ice. Two of the shorts in this collection are historically important as well--Mickey's Garden was only the second Technicolor short Disney produced, walt disney classics and 1936's Moving Day, released during the Great Depression with a plot that revolves around eviction, displays how readily cultural events were reflected in the studio's cartoons despite the timelessness usually attributed to them. Rounding out the collection are the other classic shorts Mickey's Circus, The Little Whirlwind, walt disney classics and Orphan's Picnic. Walt Disney's Classic Cartoon Favorites Starring Donald (DVD)

One of animation history's most unique creations, Donald Duck, is featured in eight Disney cartoons collected in WALT DISNEY'S CLASSIC CARTOON FAVORITES STARRING DONALD. The earliest short in the collection is 1937's Don Donald, the first solo Donald Duck cartoon which also features the first appearance of Donald's female counterpart, Donna, who was later--and better--known as Daisy. The remainder of the cartoons catalogue Donald's career up until 1950, when the Disney studio was turning its concentration away from shorts walt disney classics and towards feature films. Two cartoons in a series where Donald battled Buzz-Buzz the bee are featured: Inferior Decorator walt disney classics and the surprisingly cruel Bee at the Beach.
